Police in Colorado caught up to a Venezuelan national this week after a three-month search to charge him with raping a 14-year-old girl in Jefferson County.

Jesus Alberto Pereira Castillo had his court date Wednesday. It’s unknown if he’s still in jail.

The New York Post reports Castillo was previously arrested in Colorado in May on charges of possessing tools for forgery, counterfeiting, and larceny.

It’s unclear if he served time for that crime or was out on bail when the rape occurred.

Very little has been reported about Castillo in Colorado, where the media have been content to just repeat the small bites of information offered by the sheriff’s office.

While the social media post says he was arrested in Denver, the press release from the the sheriff’s office says, “investigators were able to locate Castillo in Aurora, CO., and placed him in custody without incident.”

The important details are coming from the New York publication, which also reports that federal immigration officials have lodged a detainer for his arrest and that Castillo was in this country illegally.

Castillo’s arrest comes as Colorado officials are threatening to block President-elect Trump’s campaign promise to immediately deport all migrants jailed for crimes followed by those in this country illegally who took advantage of Biden’s open borders policies.

Denver Mayor Johnston is threatening to send mothers into the streets to block any deportation effort by Trump.

Although it’s hard to imagine what moms are going to put theirselves on the line for an accused rapist.

The sheriff’s office reports they first responded to a south Jefferson County residence on Aug. 29 at 11 p.m. on the sexual assault investigation.

“Castillo’s employer owns the residence, and Castillo was temporarily staying in the basement of the home. At around 10:30 that evening, Castillo forced himself on the 14-year-old daughter of the homeowner, sexually assaulting her. He left the residence before deputies arrived.”

It would be helpful for residents to know if Castillo has been cut loose again or is locked up behind bars and at least in the process of being deported for when Trump takes office next year.
