A lawmaker who has become more interested in attacking Israel and advocating for Palestine than representing her Aurora constituents says she is running for the Senate seat just vacated by Janet Buckner.

State Rep. Iman Jodeh, who accused Israel of genocide for its military response on the heels of the Hamas terrorist attack, was just reelected last month and claimed to be committed to serving the constituents of House District 41.

Turns out she didn’t mean it.

Jodeh would rather be appointed senator on Jan. 6 by a panel of party insiders known as a vacancy committee.

The unfortunate date of Colorado Democrats’ Insurrection Lite does not escape us.

Jodeh told Colorado Politics she “will be unapologetic in advocating for SD 29.”

But first, she should apologize to her constituents in HD 41 for failing in her commitment to advocate for the term to which she was just elected.

PeakNation™ is all too aware, and weary, of this vacancy game played by Democrats to avoid term limits while picking out their preferred candidates to fill vacated seats.

Buckner and fellow Democrat state Sen. Chris Hansen both ran for reelection, and then announced their resignations just after the November races concluded.

State senators are term limited to eight years, but replacements for both will first fill out the four-year vacancy terms and then seek election to an additional eight years giving them more seniority and leverage than Republicans who have not abused this loophole.

Islamist Watch provides insight into what 12 years of Jodeh in the state Senate would portend, from an article headlined “From the River to the Statehouse: Rep. Iman Jodeh’s Divided Loyalties:”

Jodeh’s tenure in Colorado politics has been a case study in divided loyalties. At a time when her constituents needed her to address the pressing issues facing Aurora — rising crime, crumbling infrastructure and economic instability — Jodeh remained focused on advocating for Palestine. Her rhetoric in the wake of the Oct. 7 massacre, coupled with her absence from the meeting with Israeli families, reveals a lawmaker who prioritizes ideology over empathy and activism over responsibility.

Jodeh is the only member of the state legislature who claims Palestinian heritage.

Here’s her announcement.
