This is how rumors get started, like Republicans are going to use DOGE to cut benefits to Social Security.
A leftwing group that supports Democrats in the name of Social Security posted this video on X claiming it as proof, when the video confirms nothing of the sort.
BREAKING: @RepGregLopez says outside the first meeting of the DOGE Caucus that “there will be some cuts” to Social Security and Medicare.

Never mind that U.S. Rep. Greg Lopez only has a few more days left as the interim congressman from Colorado’s 4th district and will never have a say or vote on the matter.
Lopez said it was just his opinion Social Security should be on the table for cuts to reduce the deficit.
He never said it was on the table at the DOGE meeting for cuts. And he’s not even a member of the DOGE Caucus.
That the video does not say what the post claims it does was inconsequential to some, who simply re Xed it for the #copolitics masses.
It’s laughable the guy with the mic tries to lure in Republicans to speak with him by dropping Trump’s name, when the group was issuing press releases like this to blast Trump and support Harris during the presidential campaign.
The Delivering Outstanding Government Efficiency, or DOGE Caucus held an informal gathering last week on Capitol Hill but won’t start hearings on government cuts until the new congressional session begins in January.
At which time, Lauren Boebert will be the congresswoman for the 4th district.
