The 8th District’s new Republican congressman isn’t wasting any time fulfilling his campaign pledge to crack down on violent gang members and the drug cartels that busted through Biden’s open borders.
U.S. Rep. Gabe Evans is a lead cosponsor of legislation pursing designation of Tren de Aragua and Mexican drug cartels as Foreign Terrorist Organizations.
As Colorado faces threats from gangs like Tren de Aragua, I’m committed to securing our border.
Proud to help introduce Security First Act with @RepTonyGonzales to designate cartels as terrorist organizations, strengthen border security, and support our law enforcement.…

Dubbed the Security First Act, the bill is authored by Republican U.S. Rep. Tony Gonzales of Texas and would require the Secretary of State to consider the designations.
Fox News reported on the legislation as it affects TdA:
The crisis at the southern border saw a sharp increase in the presence of TdA, a gang that is believed to have originated in Venezuelan prisons and moved north. Border officials told Fox last year that they see the gang as a top priority, as its presence has been felt in states like Texas, Colorado and New York.
The bill also calls for more funding for Operation Stonegarden to reinforce state and local law enforcement at the Texas border.
Similar funding for Colorado would be useless, seeing as how we’re a major draw for illegal migrants and Democrats here insist we keep it that way.
