The adults at Denver Public Schools are facing a federal civil rights investigation but instead of taking responsibility they are blaming the students for the idea to discriminate against girls.
The violation: Someone converted the only bathroom for girls on the second floor at the city’s largest high school into a multi-gender urinal and squat for all.
There’s still a boy’s bathroom, but for the girls who probably use the restroom three times more often than boys, tough luck, sis. Better run fast.
Of course it’s discrimination and the school officials should know it’s an obvious civil rights violation.
Besides, If anyone needs more privacy in the privy, it’s high school girls.
But the school system is blaming the kids for the decision, because apparently, it’s just gone all “Lord of the Flies” over there.
The statement released to CBS News Denver says:
“This bathroom was added as the result of a student-led process that reflects our commitment to inclusivity and student voice, leadership, and empowerment, providing a welcoming space for all. The all-gender lavatory has stalls that are designed for privacy, with 12-foot-tall partitions to ensure the comfort and security of all students who elect to use them. This restroom serves all students, including those who may feel uncomfortable in gender-specific facilities and aligns with our values of supporting every student. The faculty of East High School has developed a plan to supervise and monitor this lavatory, just as they do with all others.”
So, it was the students who said the girl’s bathroom should be sacrificed for the good of those who feel uncomfortable behind doors with the single symbol for “men” or “women,” but are perfectly fine sharing a bathroom with all genders?
What a load of crap.
