In what is becoming more and more alarming for Colorado Democrats, Colorado Republicans seem committed not to have few if any divisive primaries this year.  Rep. Mark Waller decided to bow out of the Attorney General race leaving current Deputy Attorney General Cynthia Coffman as the Republican Candidate to try to succeed John Suthers come November.  As Charles Ashby at The Grand Junctional Sentinel reports:

Waller said he made the decision to drop out to help unify the party.

“After much thought and prayer, Jennifer and I believe the best decision moving forward is to step aside and clear the way for Cynthia Coffman. I’ve enjoyed the opportunity to promote the need for a constitutional conservative to serve as our next attorney general,” Waller said in a statement.

“I am now confident that Cynthia, as the last line of defense against an overreaching federal government, is committed to promoting our conservative values and protecting our western way of life,” he added.

Waller follows in the footsteps of many other Republicans this election season like Sen. Owen Hill, Rep. Amy Stephens, District Attorney Ken Buck who believe it is far more important that Republicans put forth a unified party for the best shot of beating Democrats and their destructive policies this fall.

Thank you for being a class act Rep. Mark Waller.  It is now up to the rest of us to go out and win this race come November so that your selfless act of putting party first doesn’t go to waste.
