Now, can we officially call the cease fire between fractivists (funded by U.S. Rep. Jared Polis) and the oil and gas industry and its allies (Gov. John Hickenlooper) over for real? Polis-funded group Safe. Clean. Colorado. is officially ramping up its campaign with an email sent out today that is clearly trying to manipulate the process and forum that he agreed to. So much for the alleged “honest discussion” of the issues. Or maybe this is just Polis’ way of making nice with the Democratic base that adores Gasland gasbag Josh Fox and Shane Davis. From the email (see the picture to the right):
But our work is not yet over. We must be vigilant in holding both the task force and the governor accountable to the needs of families across Colorado — to ensure that the practice of fracking anywhere and anytime cannot continue unabated. In that effort, we are collecting statements from the community that will be hand-delivered to the governor and the chair of the new task force.
Perhaps even more problematic is the lie perpetuated by this group that fracking can be done anytime anywhere. Colorado has some of the most stringent oil and gas regulatory processes in place, so alleging that Colorado has a laissez-faire attitude about oil and gas regulations is almost as laughable as Polis’ claim he wants an honest discussion.
In case you cannot keep up with the money laundering happening in the fractivist groups, Safe. Clean. Colorado is registered as Coloradans for Safe and Clean Energy. The group received $770,000 from Polis on August 14th. Yes, that’s almost two weeks after the so-called truce was announced.
So, again, we have to ask whether Polis entered into this agreement on good faith. And, then, similarly, if Polis did not enter into this agreement in good faith, did Hick sell Colorado short?
