Perhaps the biggest shocker of yesterday’s Congressional Assemblies is the appearance of a primary opponent for Congressman Doug Lamborn. Two potential opponents were nominated from the floor and one, Calandra Vargas, took a whopping 58 percent to Lamborn’s 35 percent. Meet Calandra and watch her one helluva speech:
Vargas ended her speech to a standing ovation. One big applause line was when Vargas took a swipe at Diana DeGette:
“I’m tired of Diana Degette from District One carrying the torch for women. You don’t speak for me.”
Vargas encouraged voters to stop talking about appealing to women and youth and about getting the message right and vote for her. Her appeal worked. Her next challenge will be to stand up a tough campaign. This is certainly a race to watch.
100%
She had and will have my vote and support!
Known her a very long time! She's always been full of passion and fire!
Wow! I really like her
Great lady! Very articulate and passionate.
Larmborn is a weak an ineffectual tool of the GOPe. 20 years in office is too long for any politician. Time for a change.
We could use some fire!
She is an outstanding young individual.
I've known her since high school. She is the real deal.
I could get behind this lady and help her win! I like her!
I was there. I had no idea who she was, but I voted for her. We need a person that is willing to go to bat for us and do what is needed to empower our party!
She is on fire.
