From blushing bride to congressional contender, Democrat Brittany Pettersen is having quite a month. Earlier this month, she wed Ian Silverii, head of ProgressNow and, now, it appears she’s raised almost twice the haul of her nearest competitor. Today, the final of the three candidates announced their fundraising stats:

  • Pettersen: $170,000
  • State Senator Andy Kerr: $104,000
  • State Senator Dominick Moreno: $85,000

Each candidate is hoping to replace U.S. Rep. Ed Perlmutter, who declared he would not seek another term and filed to run for Governor before dropping out of the Governor’s race. While Moreno came in a distant third, it should be noted that he’s only been in the race for five weeks as compared to the months that Pettersen and Kerr have been in the game. It’s still anyone’s game, but we would have expected Kerr, a teacher in the Jefferson County schools, to have greater support.

So, while he may have raised more than Moreno, we also expected more of him. Of the three, we declare Kerr the loser in this contest.
