Jason Crow
A new report published this afternoon by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation showed that background checks for gun purchases broke records with nearly 4,800 guns sold this Black Friday. That’s the most reported since the CBI started tracking gun sales in 2013. The Colorado trend follows national trends which also showed record gun sales across the country.
In other news, Nancy Pelosi pick to run against Republican U.S. Rep. Mike Coffman, Jason Crow, trotted out gun control activist Gabby Giffords to bolster his flagging campaign. Giffords survived an assassination attempt in 2012, and since has been an advocate for gun control. Here is what Giffords said about Crow:
“Jason Crow has shown the courage to stand up to the gun lobby and help lead the effort to reduce gun violence in our country. Military veterans are some of our nation’s foremost experts on guns. They know it’s important to work together to protect both our rights and the security of our communities, and for that reason, I believe Jason is uniquely qualified to make lasting change in Washington D.C.”
While we can all admire Giffords’ personal tenacity in her recovery, we also can admit that her perspective on gun control is not reflective of the Colorado electorate at large. The surge in gun purchases this Black Friday only underscores how out of touch Crow is with the voters he hopes to represent. But that shouldn’t be surprising since he doesn’t live in the district he hopes to represent just moved into the district to run for office.
