Democrats blocked the U.S. Senate Wednesday from passing a $500 billion stimulus bill to boost unemployment benefits, send $100 billion to schools and fund vaccine development.
Senate Democrats including Colorado’s Michael Bennet also killed a $500 billion bill to provide another round of funding for the Paycheck Protection Program.
Instead, Democrats are supporting House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s version with its $2.2 trillion price tag to pay off debt owed by certain Democrat-controlled states long before COVID-19 came along.
U.S. Sen. Cory Gardner voted in favor of the Senate COVID-19 aid.
Every single Democrat present voted against COVID aid.
Last week @Hickenlooper said he supported a targeted relief bill. Chuck Schumer must’ve called him because he now refuses to support add’l COVID relief. If their goal is to make this pandemic as painful as possible, it’s working – and Coloradans are suffering the consequences. https://t.co/fhVuAaSMfW
