Colorado’s new Republican congressmen are getting important committee assignments in the House of Representatives that will benefit voters statewide as well as their districts.

Jeff Crank will be taking over for Congressman Doug Lamborn in the Colorado Springs district and has now secured Lamborn’s seats on the House Armed Services Committees as well as the Committee on Natural Resources.

“I look forward to getting sworn in on January 3rd and getting to work for CO-05,” Crank said on social media.

Gabe Evans will be replacing Democrat U.S. Rep. Yadira Caraveo in the new 8th House District, and he was awarded with a seat on the powerful Energy and Commerce Committee.

Former U.S. Sen. Cory Gardner commented that it’s rare for a freshman lawmaker to win a seat on such a prestigious committee.

It’s the only committee seat held by the senior member of Colorado’s congressional delegation, Diana DeGette, so it’s especially important for a Colorado Republican to be on that panel as well during this new Trump administration.

As a bonus, it could make for some interesting fireworks.

Caraveo held seats on the Science, Space and Technology committee, as well as a spot on the Ag Committee.

Over on the Western Slope, newly elected Jeff Hurd also won a seat on the House Natural Resources Committee, which is an important slot for the 3rd District to hold. Hurd will also serve on the Science, Space and Technology Committee.

Greg Lopez has been filling in for Ken Buck, who quit his job months before his term expired. Now that seat goes to Lauren Boebert.

Lopez has been holding Buck’s seats on both the Budget Committee and Science, Space and Technology committee.

Boebert served on both the Oversight and Accountability as well as Natural Resources Committees. No word on whether her committee assignments will change.

Stay tuned.
