House Minority Leader Mark Waller (R-CO Springs) is announcing a run for Attorney General on July 1, Lynn Bartels reports. Waller isn’t saying outright that he’s running, but Bartels connects the dots regardless:

“Rep. Mark Waller to announce for AG, will run against Cynthia Coffman in primary”

House Minority Leader Mark Waller said today he plans to make a “big announcement” in Denver on July 1 and here’s a clue about what’s going to happen: The 10 a.m. event will happen at the University of Denver’s College of Law.

Waller is a former Deputy District Attorney in Pueblo and El Paso, as well as an Air Force veteran who served in Iraq in 2006. Read his full bio here.

He will be facing Deputy Attorney General Cynthia Coffman, who announced earlier this month, in a Republican primary. Weld County District Attorney Ken Buck (now cancer-free!) is also rumored to be looking at jumping in the race.
