ditchHouse Republicans including those in Colorado’s delegation voted today to protect western water and kill the EPA’s latest abomination, the Waters of the U.S. (WOTUS) rule.

Not surprising, the Democrats including Reps. Diana DeGette, Jared Polis, and Ed Perlmutter, supported the EPA and voted against the legislation.

U.S. Rep. Scott Tipton said the rule would give the feds control over our water rights, putting Washington in control of what we Coloradans hold most dear:

“The Waters of the U.S. rule, this Administration’s most onerous federal water grab, threatens the private property rights of millions of Western water users who rely on access to their water rights from everything from irrigating crops and providing clean and reliable municipal drinking water supplies, to attracting tourism opportunities through recreation.”

The Senate last year passed a similar measure to kill the rule, which Cory Gardner supported. Democratic U.S. Sen. Michael, however, sided with the EPA, cause he wants Washington to literally step into our backyards and regulate the water that runs through ditches.

Although the EPA rule has been blocked for now by the courts, Congress is right to weigh in and put a stop to this outrageous water grab.

We won’t be holding our breath for President Obama to actually sign it.
