Ballots for the 2016 primary election continue to trickle in with a small fraction of the ballots sent out returned as of 7:55 a.m. this morning, according to the Secretary of State. Currently, as of 986,252 Democratic ballots sent out, just 145,572 or 14.76% have been returned. Republicans aren’t much better. Of the 994,450 Republican ballots sent out, just 151,650, or 15.24%, have been returned.
The low returns currently may indicate that there will be lower turnout than expected. At this point, a week from the election, some officials are suggesting that voters walk their ballots in to ensure County Clerks receive ballots by 7 p.m. on June 28.
Below are a few key counties’ turnout thus far. Stay tuned, PeakNation™. We will update you as the Secretary of State’s office releases information.
