DeGette, Dean of the Delegation

Today, the U.S. House voted on a measure that prevents the transfer of any individual detained at the Guantanamo Bay, Cuba detention facility until the end of the year or until the enactment of the National Defense Authorization Act for 2017. Guess who voted against it today? If you guessed Colorado’s Democratic U.S. House delegation, including Reps. Diana DeGette, Jared Polis, and Ed Perlmutter, you would be right.

That’s right Colorado. Reps. DeGette, Polis, and Perlmutter want to force Coloradans live next door to would-be terrorists. Thanks so much!

While we expect such crappy voting from those three, where does former state Sen. Morgan Carroll fall on this issue? Carroll has long supported closing the facility, even it means transferring known terrorists to Colorado. Someone in the media should ask her. We’re looking at you Joey Bunch John Frank.

President Obama said earlier this month that “he remained hopeful of being able to close the military detention center at Guantanamo Bay before he leaves office in January.” It is estimated that one-third of released GITMO detainees return to terrorist activities.
