Political watchers know that the best flip-flops don't happen immediately, or all at once. The truly artful backpeddlers renege slowly, incrementally, haltingly in hopes that maybe the public won't catch on.

Call us cynical, but do we sense that Guv Hick has gone from "hell no" on a tax increase to "probably no"?
Compare his statements yesterday and to the one on Mike Rosen.
Note especially the part where Hick said he didn't make any pledges during the campaign not to support a tax hike. Maybe we are cynical, but maybe the drumbeat from the liberals, the Denver Post, and the CEA is having an effect.
Don't do it, Hick. Don't do it.
This is the same Hick as the one that ran. He’s always said that Coloradans weren’t “ready for a tax increase right now.” Besides, Hickenlooper is no stranger to tax increases; are you forgetting about all the years he was Denver Mayor? He’s always left one foot in the door there.
Hick must be feeling the pressure from the leftist establishment. I hope he stays strong and does what’s right for Coloradans.
I just knew it was too good to be true! Time will tell…
Hick,
You promised to be a business friendly Governor. Keep your promise.
