Last night, Denver Westword held an awards ceremony for their annual Web Awards, bestowing their honors upon a lucky few bloggers and Tweeters from topics ranging from politics to beer. We at Colorado Peak Politics were honored to receive the award for Best Political Blog, beating out some stiff competition.

It's been a hell of a year for us at the Peak, as Denver Post Politics Editor Chuck Plunkett said

Here is what Westword said in selecting the Peak:

Political Blog
Colorado Peak Politics is Denver's Best Political Blog. Because of the secret-secret nature of this blog, it's not entirely clear where it's based. But we're awarding it Denver's Best Political Blog anyway, because, hell, we're in Denver and we read it — especially when we're in the mood for some conservative snark. Digging into the criminal record of Pueblo state rep and congressional candidate Sal Pace and discovering not one but two (!!) arrests for public urination? Brilliant. Calling him Rep. Sal Pace (D-Urination)? Even more brilliant.

We can think of one person whose day this is not going to make. That was made doubly true when we received a Google alert for "Sal Pace" with the link to the award — an alert that probably set off some alarm bells in that Congressional candidate's campaign.

But enough rubbing it in Pace's face. We'll save the gloating for election night 2012.

We have fun, we try hard, we bring the snark every day, but we don't think we are better than anyone else — except Colorado Pols.
