OUR VIEW: Watching Brandon Shaffer operate is like watching Rain Man try to pick up chicks. It just pains you to watch.

——-

Brandon Shaffer is so embarrassing. The Peak is embarrassed for him. The Peak hopes he escapes jail time for the crime of being an embarrassing embarrassment.

Only days after suggesting being opposed politically is the same thing as blaming rape victims for the crimes perpetrated against them, Senate President Brandon Shaffer is embarrassing himself again.

Now he's thought up the brilliant scheme to run a bill that would cut off state legislator's pay and benefits if they have to call a special session to complete budget negotiations.

The thing is, that hasn't been a problem in Colorado.

Funny thing, though. Democrats in the US Senate haven't passed a budget in almost 1000 days.

Should we take this bill as a sign that Brandon Shaffer is calling for Harry Reid to forgo his salary and benefits? What about Mark Udall and Michael Bennet? Does Brandon Shaffer believe they should not be getting paid right now?

A bill destined to fail, put forth by a politician destined for failure. It's just embarrassing.

And he thinks he's being slick about it.

Senator Shaffer, did you think that no one would notice that you are trying to pass a bill to solve a problem that doesn't exist?

Senator Shaffer, did you think no reporter would note that you can't raise money from lobbyists while the Legislature is in session?

Watching Brandon Shaffer operate is like watching Rain Man try to pick up chicks. It just pains you to watch.

At the end of last session it was the flower shop cops, now Brandon Shaffer is conjuring up budget battles he has yet to lose.

Desperate to attract PR fluff and flattering phrases to his impossible bid against Cory Gardner, Shaffer thinks all it takes is a little sprinkle of gimmick here, a poll tested slogan there (Colorado Solutions!) and voila! he's ready for Congress.

Brandon Shaffer, you are an embarrassment.
