Reports are that State Representative Laura Bradford (R-Collbran) will not seek re-election this November.

Sources close to the beleaguered western slope lawmaker say that she will announce that decision later today in a Press Release to be distributed at noon.

Bradford would have faced two Primary challengers at the House District 54 Assembly this Saturday in Clifton, CO. Republicans Jared Wright and John “Rusty” Price have both announced that they seek the HD 54 nomination. No Democrat contender has of yet stepped forth.

While she reportedly gave no indication as to the specific reason or reasons for deciding not to seek retention of her seat in the solidly Republican district, recent controversies involving the now-infamous traffic stop earlier this year, on-going contentions with the House leadership, and her husband’s health may all be factors.

We will provide more details as they emerge.
