It's been four years since President Bush and Vice President Cheney were in office, but that hasn't stopped President Obama from trying to pass off blame for the economy on them, nor has it soothed any of the left wing hate that was so prevalent last decade. One Democrat state legislator from Maine was recently caught having tweeted a wish for his ability to watch Vice President Cheney die like Saddam Hussein.
Reports The Daily Caller:
Maine has been at the center of calls for civility and bipartisanship since Sen. Olympia Snowe announced her retirement citing “political paralysis.” But one Maine Democratic legislator seems to have missed the memo, sending out a tweet in which he seemingly called for former Vice President Dick Cheney’s execution.
State Rep. Chuck Kruger, the Democratic chairman of the Maine Legislature’s Moderate Caucus, tweeted in August, “Cheney deserves same final end as he gave Saddam. Hope there are cellcams #cheney.” The Maine Wire first reported this, and preserved a screen shot of the now-deleted tweet.
In an email to The Daily Caller, Kruger clarified, “I do not wish for the death of Dick Cheney or anyone. I did NOT call for his execution, that was an absolute smear from an organization dedicated to damaging Democrats. I did make a lousy attempt at humor, and I regret that.”
Though the tweet occurred last summer, note to public officials: Tweets, like diamonds, are forever.
Second note to public officials: death threats about public officials are not "lousy jokes."
Saying you want to watch Vice President Cheney die like Saddam Hussein, whose execution by hanging went viral after it was captured on cell phone video, is not a joke, nor a "lousy attempt at humor."
We hope Democrats who whine about lack of respect for Obama by conservatives take this as a reminder of their side's stance towards the last White House.
Can you image the outrage that would explode if a Republican state legislator said he wanted to watch Obama get executed?

Peak diaries are hack spin jobs and are written for the express benefit of the Republican Party, not the conservative movement. (No, those are not one and the same.) There is no need for me to point that out on every diary anymore.
Peak, avoid the obvious whoppers now, ya hear? I will be back if you pull any real stupid crap.
don’t take your ball and go home!
If that’s how you perceive it, it’s only because I’ve scored so many goals that I need to find competition worthy of my intellect.
As the line in The Help goes, you is smart, you is kind, you is important, Ari.
Don’t forget. Everything you type is scoring goals. Never quit.
Rethugs only apologize when their gravy train is threatened.
Nice “HEY THEY DO IT TOO” argument. It still doesn’t excuse Rethug nastiness.
All I see is “I regret…” but no apology. Could you clarify Ari? Where was the apology?
you stupid fucktard, in case you were looking for loopholes in his statement, “I regret” is not equivalent to “I’m sorry”. i.e. I regret calling you a stupid fucktard instead of something more profound, but I certainly am not sorry for calling you that.
Go back to your unhealthy obsession with the author(s) of CPP. Its fun for the rest of us to watch your convulsions.
Teh stoopid must really hurt, huh?
Relevant because Matt Arnold is apparently doing well at the party assembly in his quest for CU Regent.

stupidity didn’t get me an engineering degree. As you may recall I made fun of you for being Matt Arnold-esque, to which you replied you didn’t know who he is. Matt Arnold is a worthless piece of shit.
Engineers are usually stereotyped as not being “people persons.” If that holds true with you, it would explain why you believe there’s some major difference between “I regret” and “I’m sorry.”
As for Matt Arnold, I regret posting that as a response to you. It was actually meant to be a stand-alone comment on this thread. FWIW, I still didn’t know who Matt Arnold was until Pols posted that diary. If you believe he’s a POS, please vote for whomever is running against him.
He regretted his “lame attempt at humor.” I didn’t see an apology to Cheney, I also still do not understand how you blindly accept his explanation that he wasn’t suggesting that Cheney be hung.
Please explain what he meant by that tweet Ari.
your our banter months ago (http://www.coloradopeakpolitics.com/diary/754/sal-pace-sabotage-pushes-antitax-message-in-campaign-email-during-dem-campaign-to-hike-taxes). I have a long history of disliking Matt Arnold
my hypothesis is that CPP tends to get less comments because they’re so lengthy relative to Pols or most other blog sites, political or not.
Didn’t realize this til I went searching for our comments on Matt Arnold. Pols is usually brief one-liner comments
Pols diaries are certainly as long, or longer, on the average in comparison to Peak – maybe not all the user-submitted ones, but certainly Pols’ own threads.
Last I checked, this blog had 353 registered users. Pols used to get more than 1,000 new ones each year before the spambots discovered that site – now it’s impossible to say how many real accounts they have.
The most likely explanation is that Peak just doesn’t get that much traffic. (I could all the research that suggests conservatives are more likely to be less critical in their thinking – and therefore less likely to be inspired to comment – and offer that as an alternate explanation, but why bother. The user participation speaks for itself.)
Your obsession with comments is misguided, Ari. Many DP Spot posts or even Politico blog posts have little to no comments. Are you going to claim that therefore they have no traffic?
While we’re on comment section attendance, the comment section at Colorado Pols has become one big left wing circle jerk, so who gives a shit how many comments they get?
Not talking about diary length, comment-length. Not everyone has the time to piss away everyday arguing with idiots on blogs.
Why aren’t you obsessed with Pols the same way you are with CPP? Because Jason Bane registered Pols in his name with the SOS, and you already know that? Or because he granted interviews with the press? OMG, who would’ve thought that ProgressNow was really running Pols? Please please please tell us Ari!!!
FYI Ari, I said I have an engineering degree, not that I am an engineer. Read more carefully in the future son.
I had to re-read that a couple of times to see that that’s what you meant. Try to write clearly.
I’m not “obsessed” with Pols because I have nothing to suspect about them. They are what they are. People make allegations and they address them. People criticize them and they answer their critics. They’re independents. If it’s all liberals now, it’s because the cons couldn’t take the heat.
Peak isn’t what Peak wants you to think it is. But that isn’t “obsession;” that’s mostly fun. Hell, I wouldn’t be here if they would stop using that COPols hashtag on twitter. (No, I don’t follow them; Pols has some twitter feed on all their pages so I can’t help but see Peak’s nonsense which is just begging for my correction.)
My point about Kruger is that he at least offered some kind of retraction, which – AGAIN – is a hell of a lot more than any rethug in the same position does. All you guys can do is stammer “b-b-b-but THEY DO IT TOO!” As for what he meant… well, WE didn’t hang Saddam, now did we? He specifically spoke of the end “we” Americans gave him, and that was to give him up to the authorities to be tried for his crimes. I’d like to see Cheney go before the judge, too.
And stay at home parents are “deadbeats” now? So there’s nothing wrong with Hilary Rosen’s comments about Ann Rmoney then, right? Or is that simply another case of IOKIYAR?
Didn’t Sarah Fong from SquareState also post something about Al Franklin running Pols? Sorry my memory isn’t so great, I wasn’t a liberal arts major.
Do you need a link? At least she believes in something instead of being a dead-beat “stay-at-home dad” blog critic.
Sorry Aristotle that CPP doesn’t have more comments. Most of us have jobs. Maybe CPP will put me in the “Penalty Box” for personal attacks, oh wait, they aren’t that cool yet. Get a fucking life loser
