With the Democrat National Convention set to be held in North Carolina this year, the timing of the sexual harassment scandal at the North Carolina Democrat Party couldn't be worse. Ensuring the scandal won't go away quickly, the Chairman David Parker refused to step down today in a defensive press conference.
Reports The Daily Caller's Vince Coglianese:
The chairman of the North Carolina Democratic Party reaffirmed in a Raleigh press conference that he will not be resigning from his post, despite widespread pressure from his party to step aside.
David Parker urged reporters to fully vet the facts of the alleged sexual harassment scandal that has so far resulted in the resignation of Jay Parmley, the organization’s now-former executive director. Parmley was accused in late 2011 of sexual harassment, including unwanted touching, by former communications staffer Adrian Ortega.
Despite the calls for Parker’s exit — made from as high as the office of North Carolina Democratic Governor Bev Perdue — the party chairman insists that he’s sticking it out for noble reasons.
“I’m not going to do things because it’s politically expedient,” Parker explained. “I’ve never done that in my life. I’m not going to do that now.”
The allegations against the Executive Director of the North Carolina Democrats, Jay Parmley, are serious, including allegations of him showing a staffer a picture of his penis.
What is it with Democrats and crotch shots lately? First Congressman Anthony Weiner resigns over one, and now NC Dem staffer Jay Parmley.

From watching the press conference, it's clear this scandal is not going away. With a tone deaf Chairman obstinately refusing to step aside, there will be plenty of copy generated in the coming days and weeks.
As North Carolina Democrats are supposed to be preparing to host Democrat delegates from across the country in only a few months time, we're glad to see them spending their time on dealing with a sexual harassment scandal.
First it was a Dem #waronmoms, then a #warondogs, what's this? A #waronsubordinates?
