State Representative and CD6 Congressional candidate Joe Miklosi has been moved up into the Democrat Congressional Campaign Committee's (DCCC) Red-to-Blue program. The news comes only weeks after major Democrats not from Washington, DC defected from Miklosi, hosting high dollar fundraisers for GOP incumbent Congressman Mike Coffman.
Miklosi and his campaign have been the butt of more than a few jokes in political circles the last couple of months. Whether it was Miklosi trying to add motorcycle bikers to a list of protected classes in Colorado, getting called out for ditching his legislative district to move into CD6, or watching Democrat mega-donor Steve Farber defect to Coffman, no one has really taken Miklosi seriously.
A few months ago, Miklosi's campaign was so pathetic even Colorado Democrat's mouthpiece Colorado Pols said "his campaign is all but over now."
With Miklosi's seat now listed as a takeover possibility for Democrats, Speaker John Boehner can breathe a sigh of relief. If Miklosi is part of Democrats’ path to power, they're not going anywhere.
But all hope is not lost. There are some on the far left margins of the political spectrum who still think there is a real race in CD6, kind of like the Japanese soldiers on Pacific islands who didn't realize WWII was over.
Miklosi's number one left wing super fan, Nancy Cronk of Colorado Progressive Outreach, immediately issued a breathless statement saying the DCCC moving Miklosi into the Red-to-Blue program was because "Joe's team has surpassed standards for aggressive fundraising, effective organizing and competent infrastructure."
Aggressive as in Miklosi raised less per quarter than any other targeted seat in the country. Only in the affirmative action world of Democratic politics can you be called "aggressive" and in last place.
Being included on this is a HUGE boon to Miklosi, and one that changes the campaign in one fell swoop. I was pretty sure he was toast, too, but Red to Blue will ensure a lot of money comes his way, and is exactly the kick in the ass his campaign needs.
I’m still betting on a Coffman victory, but it will far and away be his toughest race yet, may well prove to be pyrrhic.
The water in the toilet bowl carrying down all the union extorted and “stimulus” provided slush fund monies that the Democratic Party feels “flush” with. At least they aren’t any more responsible with their money than they are with ours. Not that they see any difference between the two.
Someone’s grumpy that his boy Mike is going to have to work at getting re-elected.
If you think Republicans are “responsible” with taxpayer money, tell me what you think of the Navy having 12 supercarriers when all the rest of the world’s navies have a grand total of one. And tell me what the GOP is doing about that waste.
all those supercarriers because we defend the rest of the world’s navies.
Also Ari, do you really want to assert that Miklosi will make Coffman work for his seat? Ya some guy who is about as low-profile of a legislator as they come moved into the district to run. My question is what will Miklosi do once he loses? Return to “community organizing”?
We defend the rest of the world’s navies? They can’t defend themselves?
Sounds like we need to cut the apron strings.
As far as Miklosi goes, your forgetting what money does to a congressional race. CD6 is more competitive now. Put that together with money and you have an incumbent who is actually going to have to actually, really work for it for the first time (not counting his first primary – and that wasn’t contentious IIRC).
