The Democratic U.S. Senate candidate from Massachusetts, Elizabeth Warren, railed last night against a "rigged" economy, citing liberal punching bags – oil companies and investment banks – as the "culprit". But, Warren seems to have forgotten the massively rigged government subsidies for so-called green energy companies, nevermind the factually-inaccurate information she's spewing.
“The system is rigged. Look around. Oil companies guzzle down billions in subsidies. Billionaires pay lower tax rates than their secretaries. Wall Street CEOs — the same ones who wrecked our economy and destroyed millions of jobs — still strut around Congress, no shame, demanding favors, and acting like we should thank them."
Perhaps nowhere is this more apparent than right here in Colorado, the backyard of the woman at the heart of crony capitalism and responsible for the massive waste of taxpayer dollars – Pat Stryker. Coloradans have had front-row seats for the hangover from our government picking winners and losers. Just a couple of examples:
- Earlier this summer, Abound Solar filed bankruptcy and defaulted on a $400 million loan backed by Obama's Department of Energy. Colorado's hometown darling Pat Stryker helped to secure that loan for her ailing solar firm, and all seven of Colorado's Congressional and Senate Democrats lobbied for the loan.
- Everytime a politician looks sideways at Rep. Perlmutter-backed Vestas, the company threatens to lay Coloradans off. It's like Coloradans are being held hostage by Perlmutter's government subsidy promises.
As Peter Schweizer has reported, 16 of the 20 billion dollars loaned by the Energy Department has gone to companies owned or operated by Obama donors. Even worse, wind and solar energy has been found to not be a cost effective means of providing energy. See chart below.
But, perhaps Warren’s “convenient amnesia” should come as no surprise considering her Fauxcahontas scandal earlier this year. Or, the fact that Stryker has donated at least $2,500 to Warren’s campaign.
