Yesterday, Chris Stevens, U.S. Ambassador to Libya, was killed at the U.S. Embassy in Benghazi during a rocket attack, following days of protests in Libya and Egypt.  Three additional embassy staff members also died in the attack, including Sean Smith, a ten-year veteran of the State Department.

The mob that stormed the embassy was thought to be angry over an obscure anti-Muslim movie, “The Innocence of Muslims” (trailer below).

This movie is definitely offensive… to well-made movies everywhere.

This is just the sixth time a U.S. Ambassador has been killed in an overseas post, with the most recent occuring during the Carter administration in 1979.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of all four who were killed in this senseless and violent attack.
