Local politics can sometimes be the most fun to cover, as it brings us gems like JeffCo school board member Paula Noonan, who was arrested last week on an outstanding warrant.
Perhaps best known as the graduation speaker who was booed, jeered and literally drowned out with air horns for giving what was dubbed a “rambling, self-absorbed” speech at Dakota Ridge High School, Noonan has now found herself back in the limelight for all the wrong reasons.
But, wait, it gets better.
In a move so stupid only a politician could make it, Noonan publicized her mistakes along the way.
Reports the Columbine Courier:
Jeffco school board member Paula Noonan was arrested during a traffic stop Jan. 8 when Denver police officers became aware of an outstanding warrant from a 2011 traffic ticket.
Noonan wrote in a letter to the editor of the Courier that in 2011 she was ticketed for not having proof of insurance when she was pulled over. Noonan was given a court date, which she said she missed.
What kind of elected official does something like that? Apparently, ones who also give speeches worthy of a 9News segment just about how awful they were. [Full video after the jump]

Unfortunately Noonan can't be fired. She's an elected official. I've had the pleasure/pain of working directly with this idiot in the past and wish "firing" was an option. What you can do is spread the word, speak at school board meetings, write the local papers, etc., etc. She's protected by the rest of the board and the school district so pretty hard to get much done but public humiliation is certainly an option and deserved.
We need to seriously look at making sure our board members are responsible citizens who serve the interests of educating our children as efficiently as possible. It is a shame that some of those in the school district ruin the hard work and talented effort that the overwhelming majority of our teachers put forth on a daily basis. As citizens, we need to take a serious look at Paula Noonan and decide if she is the best person to represent us. Surely we can do better.
Worked for several Jeffco schools…they'll fire teachers and aides before firing her and all those like her (there are many). One of the most top heavy school dist. around. There's no one to force them to clean house. Its' very sad.
It is amazing to me that this person is a PHD. She is the loose cannon and a scattered mess, a definite must see in person to believe. She shows up to the board meetings looking like she hasn't showered in days, no bra, and not much of anything intelligent to say. It is not difficult for me to believe that her life is so disorganized that she misses something as important as a court date on something that is as serious as being charged with driving without insurance. I am sure that the union-controlled board is happy to have a puppet such as Paula to serve their interests and vote in their favor. I gotta hand it to the union, they have done a good job fleecing the county!
