We already wrote a piece on ProgressNow’s admission that their (Westword titled) “hosurance” ads were terrible.  But, we thought it was worth highlighting how messaging used in another new ProgressNow/CCHI ad undermines Obamacare – the program it’s meant to support.  Here’s the language from the ad shown to the right:

“Santa Claus is making a list and checking it twice.  You had better not be naughty and make other people cover your health care bills.  Get covered. Be nice for goodness sake.  Millions of people are getting insurance.” (Peak emphasis)

The bolded phrase above sounds like a good “personal responsibility” message, right?

Our view: The act that the ad is condemning is exactly what the Obamacare program is asking of the people (i.e., young, healthy) these ads are targeting.

So, we’ve taken the liberty of rewriting the text of this ad to reflect reality:

“Hey young, healthy people, don’t be naughty and make other people cover your health care bills, but we really need you to sign up for Obamacare so you can cover everyone else’s health care bills.  No really, if you don’t sign up, our entire scheme is financially insolvent, so we really need you to subsidize everyone else sign up.  Now. For the love of God. Please.”

You’re welcome.
