It’s pretty unreal that Colorado is once again becoming the epicenter of the fight for freedom nationally, but here we are again.
The Little Sisters of the Poor, a Denver-based religious order, asked for a reprieve from the requirement that their insurance plans include abortifacients and contraception, which goes against their religious beliefs. Over the New Year’s holiday, Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor granted the sisters a temporary reprieve from the Obamacare contraceptive mandate. Without the exemption, the religious organization would have faced millions of dollars in fines. The Obama administration today filed a motion opposing Justice Sotomayor’s reprieve. It must make the Obama administration feel really powerful to bully a religious order of sweet nuns caring for our most vulnerable populations.
Here’s a video explaining who the sisters are:
This issue is at the heart of the founding of our country – those who founded America came here to freely exercise their religion. Have we come full circle now? Why are Democratic Sen. Mark Udall and Michael Bennet silent on this? This is their beast. Who is going to speak up for America’s religious freedom?
