Upon hearing that state Democrats are willing to throw away $100,000 to create an app that lists all of Colorado’s businesses, we here at The Peak put a pot of coffee on last night, and were determined to create this new app (we mean, that new frozen margarita machine we’ve been eyeing won’t pay for itself). After a very sleepless—yet productive—night, we are ready to reveal our new creation. Click on this link to preview our beta version:
On this warm Friday afternoon, we can already feel that frozen concoction soothing us into the weekend. We couldn’t have done it without your wasteful spending Colorado Democrats, so thank you.
Seriously though, House Minority Leader Brian DelGrosso and Rep. Libby Szabo capture the absurdity of this exercise perfectly:
“With a simple app store search I found dozens of apps already doing what this bill would create, and none of them require taxpayer dollars,” said House Minority Leader Brian DelGrosso (R-Loveland). “It will take fifty Colorado families paying their taxes for a year just to fund an app that already exists in many other forms, which are free to everyone. This is an example of government waste at its worst.”
“I am puzzled, Democrats are comfortable spending $100,000 of taxpayer funds on an app that already exists and vote against requiring the use of a Colorado company to develop the app when its sole purpose is to promote Colorado companies?” questioned Szabo. “Democrats are willing to talk the talk, but when it comes to actually supporting Colorado business, they don’t walk the walk.”
Guess we’re back to checking the seat cushions in our pursuit of our frozen liberation…for now.
