Just one more day until the primary is over, PeakNation™. Remember to vote – at this point, you will need to drop your ballots off at your local ballot drop off center.
As of this morning, 465,597 ballots have been cast in the primary, according to the Secretary of State’s office. The next (and last) turnout report until the final will be tomorrow morning. Here’s the statewide breakdown by party:
Democrats: 184,864
Republicans: 276,700
As we previously noted, the total ballots cast for the 2010 primary election numbered 774,071. Of course, remember, in 2010, Colorado Democrats were deciding between the eventual loser Andrew Romanoff and Sen. Michael Bennet, so that drove significantly more ballot returns on the left than perhaps this year will.
Here are the returns county by county:
I don't know whether to laugh or cry at the figures. I haven't seen the Repub ballot, but the Dem 'ballot' doesn't have any choices on it – only one person for each position. Why are people bothering to return the ballots at all? They are not being given a vote, so what are they thinking? Have they fooled themselves into believing they are making any kind of difference? The person on the ballot WILL go to the general election whether anyone returns their 'ballot' or not. It is a fraudulent 'election' – no choice, no 'vote' – no different than any conducted under dictatorships trying to give some type of credibility to their rule.
The primary election is over. Now, we just wait for the results to be made public.
