A new ad by Americans for Prosperity lambastes U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet for the latest collapse of health insurance for Coloradans – the closure of Colorado HealthOp that will leave 83,000 without coverage.
Why is Bennet in the hotseat? Because he promised us we could keep our doctor, and by extension, our actual health insurance, when he cast the controversial vote legalizing Obamacare:
“We should begin with a basic principle: if you have coverage and you like it, you can keep it. If you have your doctor, and you like him or her, you should be able to keep them as well. We will not take that choice away from you.”
The 30-second ad called “Turned Away” highlights Bennet’s vote and the Co-op’s closure, and will run over the next two weeks as part of a statewide Internet buy. Volunteers for the Colorado chapter will also initiate a grassroots effort and go door-to-door campaigning against Bennet.
“For many, Colorado HealthOp’s closure will be the second time they’ve had their health insurance plans cancelled thanks to Senator Bennet’s vote for Obamacare. Colorado deserves better than more of Senator Bennet’s failed policies,” said Michael Fields, AFP state director.
As we all remember fondly, the timing of the last implosion of Obamacare hit at almost the same time in former U.S. Sen. Mark Udall’s reelection cycle, as this disaster has struck during Bennet’s reelection effort.
In that debacle, nearly a quarter-million Coloradans lost their health insurance, and Udall tried to cover it up by bullying state officials to keep their mouths shut.
We expect to see a lot more ads like this one in the coming year, but it’s never too early to share the love, so hit that Facebook “share” button.
