Now-former Sen. David Balmer’s move to become the lobbyist for the Human Society of America started a chain of Republican vacancy committees. The first, was to fill his seat. That seat went to former Rep. Jack Tate, who was sworn in yesterday as a state senator. This Saturday, Arapahoe County Republicans will hold a vacancy committee to pick Tate’s replacement in House District 37, and there are no shortage of candidates. In alphabetical order, here are the prospects:
- Ryan Call, former Colorado GOP chair and lawyer
- Tom Kim, a business owner who works with underperforming companies
- David Schlatter, a commercial real estate advisor
- Jimmy Sengenberger, president of Liberty Day Institute and a radio host on 710KNUS
- Pat Shamblin, occupation not immediately available
- Dagny Van Der Jagt, lawyer and small business owner
- Cole Wist, lawyer
For more information on these candidates, visit the Arapahoe County Republicans website here. Otherwise stay tuned on Saturday for the official vote.
