no_mosquitoU.S. Rep. Diana DeGette has been whining all week that Republicans in Congress aren’t doing enough to save us all from the Zika virus.

We ignored her, as usual, because no matter what it is Republicans are doing about an issue, it’s never enough.
But then we caught this interesting blurb in the Huffington Post, which reveals that it’s actually Democrats who are

blocking Republicans from doing a lot to prevent an outbreak of the virus. Make that, if we have an outbreak. So far, Americans who have tested positive for the virus caught it in another country.

But we digress.

It turns out that Democrats like DeGette want Congress to throw millions of dollars at the problem before it exists. Instead, those whacky Republicans had the gall to pass a bill to kill the freaking bugs to prevent the problem from existing.

The problem with killing bugs, is that bugs are people, too, and pesticides are bad because it kills bugs, Democrats argue.

“What it should be called, perhaps, is the Pesticide Trojan Horse Act, which would be a more apt name for what this bill actually does,” said Rep. Jared Polis (D-Colo.) during a floor debate.

So the next time you see something like this:

Remember, Democrats are the ones standing in the way, because Raid kills bugs dead.
