We’ve been following the Interior appointment because of its importance to the state and because Bob Beauprez is under consideration, a contender that even the Denver Post has endorsed.
It’ll be a stark transition for the nation’s public lands no matter who Trump taps as the next secretary of the interior. For Colorado and the West, that transition will be made a bit easier by having someone in office who we know and trust.
Also being mentioned for the post is Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin, who has the bona fides with the oil and gas industry, but with very little public land in the state that is more Midwest than West.
Also meeting with Trump recently was Washington state U.S. Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, who currently chairs the House Republican Conference.
We’ll be reporting on the developments of those nominations as well as the EPA transition, so stay tuned.
