U.S. Rep. Scott Tipton is eyeing his old seat on the House Natural Resources Committee, angling for a reassignment when the new session of Congress begins in January.

Tipton has been serving on the House Financial Services Committee, which is a powerful seat indeed and he’s certainly worked hard to relieve the regulatory burden on small banks that ultimately affects consumers.

However, as the representative of the sprawling 3rd Congressional District and vast public lands, his voice and presence on the committee, now more than ever, is needed.

The Daily Sentinel reports that he plans on keeping on his seat on the financial committee, but is hoping that a spot opens on Resources.

We expect that he can convince Chairman Rob Bishop of neighboring Utah to find a spot for him in the coming session, and will look forward to him serving there.
