U.S. Rep. Mike Coffman

Democrats made much ado about nothing last time U.S. Rep. Mike Coffman attempted to engage with his constituents, claiming he would only talk to people privately (it wasn’t a townhall, but one-on-one constituent meetings) and that he left early (like minutes). Nonetheless, Coffman hosted a townhall for his constituents in Aurora last night and it was a resounding success, despite the best efforts of Democrats to disrupt.

A ProgressNow press release headline said it all: “Not Good Enough” – well, what is ProgressNow, the ultimate paid protesters for the left, going to say after such a successful townhall?  Nothing went poorly, so that’s the best the group could come up with.

He even earned praise from should-be-paid-by-Democrats-for-his-work Aurora Sentinel Editorial Page Editor Dave Perry, who wrote:

“In a put up or shut up world of unsavory politics these days, Aurora Congressman Mike Coffman put up Wednesday night at a town hall meeting on the Anschutz Campus.

“Props to Coffman for breaking the trend among many Republicans in Congress to ditch these public grilling sessions that can too easily lead to unflattering footage for opponents’ future TV commercials.”

Now that we’ve gotten Coffman’s townhall out of the way, perhaps Democrats can help Bennet commit to a regular townhall schedule here in Colorado, since before recent Democratic shouting that exposed the issue, he hadn’t had one in years.
