We’re sure it’s above board (wink, wink) and maybe just a coincidence that the VA is advertising for someone to fill this government contract.
But the ad comes on the heels of U.S. Rep. Mike Coffman’s request for a review by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) of the VA’s “psychoactive drug-centric mental health standard for our veterans.”
Coffman asked for the review in an Aug. 21 letter and based on the experiences for two Colorado veterans.
He wants to know if there is a correlation between the use of these medications and veteran suicide rates, and the amounts and types of medications being prescribed.
We would urge the GAO to get started on that review, before the evidence vanishes into tiny strips of paper.
