Following up on U.S. Rep. Jared Polis’s plea to moderates and conservatives to vote for him, and one of his supporter’s claims that Republicans would really like the Democratic candidate for governor if they only knew more about this great businessman, we did a little fact-checking and found this handy chart from govtrack.us.
The correct way to read it is from left to right, the further left a member is, the further left they vote.
It’s fairly self-explanatory, and does not suggest that Polis is anywhere near being some sort of maverick independent, or a Democrat willing to work across party lines.
In addition, we see that he gets a perfect 100 percent score from the ACLU and Planned Parenthood, and 90 percent from the League of Conservation Voters.
Polis may try and style himself as a businessman’s businessman, but we doubt he will see much support from the small business community.
He gets a mere 37 percent from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
