U.S. Sen. Cory Gardner is renewing his effort to list Russia as a state sponsor of terror, calling on Congress to pass his bill mandating the State Department make a determination within 90 days as to whether Russia fits that bill.

And it does.

Here’s Gardner’s statement during a Senate leadership press conference Tuesday, in which he unleashed Russia’s naughty list that would make Santa Claus blush.

“Four years ago today nearly 300 people were killed when a Russian missile system was used over eastern Ukraine to shoot down a Malaysia airlines flight. Russia has not only downed the commercial airliner, it invaded its neighbors Georgia and Ukraine, supports the murderous Assad regime and our enemies in Afghanistan. It has engaged in active information warfare against western democracies, including meddling in the United States elections 2016 and elsewhere.”

If the State Department complied and put Russia on the list along with Iran, North Korea, Sudan, and Syria, it would mean no more U.S. foreign assistance, a ban on defense exports and sales, and other financial restrictions.

Gardner’s video is posted on Facebook and already has 15,000 views with more than 700 comments.

We did a quick sampling through the comments to gauge support for Gardner’s bill, which of course there is among Republicans.

Ironically, it’s the Democrats who’ve been screaming about collusion and meddling that tried to change the subject and aren’t interested in punishing Russia.

They insist the solution to dealing with the Mother Country Russia is to bankrupt the U.S. with free health care and block Trump’s Supreme Court nominees.

When it gets right down to it, Democrats are only mad at Russia because that meddling exposed their own party was trying to fix the election for Hillary Clinton.

We remain convinced that no Republican was ever tricked by a Russian into voting for another Republican in the 2016 election.
