Walker Stapleton, the Republican gubernatorial candidate who lost the campaign to (cough, cough), Governor Polis, is being an awfully good sport and all around good guy about today’s inauguration.

Stapleton posted this video on his Twitter feed, explaining why he couldn’t be at the capitol for today’s ceremonies, and earnestly wished his former opponent the best of luck.

“I’d be there, but after eight years of having the privilege of serving in statewide office, it turns out that my service to Colorado will continue for at least one more day. That’s correct, I have been summoned as a juror.”

Stapleton added that hopes to get the chance soon to congratulate Polis, in person.
What a great guy Stapleton is. We miss him already.
