The media has reported government shutdown sob stories ad nauseam about the plight of workers who will soon see their second paycheck stalled.

They’re being fed by food banks, applying for interest-free loans and unemployment benefits, and it’s all President Trump’s fault, the media and Democrats tells us.

What they aren’t telling us, is that House Republicans keep trying to pass legislation to pay government workers during this shutdown, but it’s the Democrats who keep blocking the effort, and the paychecks.

U.S. Sen. Cory Gardner also introduced a bill today to immediately pay federal workers.

“I’ve made it clear that I do not believe government shutdowns are ever the right answer,” said Senator Gardner. “We must reopen the government, and I will continue working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to find a solution. In the interim, our federal workers should not be deprived of their paychecks.”

Senate Republicans are voting Thursday to reopen the government with President Trump’s deal to extend DACA protections for children of illegal immigrants, which Democrats keep demanding, plus $5 billion for border security to prevent drug smuggling and illegal immigration.

The Democrats are countering with a bill that would reopen government until Feb. 8 then puts us back where we started — in a shutdown with federal employees not getting paid.

We’re starting to see a trend here, Democrats want to keep government shuttered and deny federal workers paychecks, because of the political damage they hope to inflict on the Republican Party with their friends in the media.
