U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet says a Bernie Sanders presidential ticket will hurt other Democrats running for office in Colorado, and he’s urging the party faithful to vote against the socialist senator.

“I think it makes it much more challenging in purple states for Democrats who are running if Sanders is at the top of the ticket,” Bennet said.

What Bennet means is, Democrat John Hickenlooper can’t get elected to the U.S. Senate if he’s running with a Socialist leading the party.

Republican U.S. Sen. Cory Gardner would certainly win reelection, Republicans would retain control of the Senate, and Bennet’s just bummed he has to return to his day job there.

This is all assuming Hickenlooper wins the nomination. If Colorado picks Sanders today to be their presidential nominee, we don’t think that bodes well for Hick to survive the primary.
