Democrats and their friends in the media are coming hard for U.S. Sen. Cory Gardner for committing the most unforgivable sin of any Republican — working hard for Colorado and getting the tough jobs done.

The Denver Post’s backhanded compliment was to credit Trump for handing Gardner election year wins by giving him “advance notice and policy plums.”

But then their story reveals how Gardner successfully persuaded Trump to fully finance the Land and Water Conservation Fund.

It was then that Trump flip-flopped on LWCF. The president who had tried to drastically cut the program now wanted it fully funded. As Trump wrote on Twitter that day, it was “ALL thanks” to Gardner and Sen. Steve Daines, R-Mont.

The LWC fund accomplishment — a commitment Democrats have failed to garner from other presidents, was met with Democrat scorn.

Snide remarks from Washington State’s liberal Sen. Maria Cantwell, and an anonymous staffer were corralled by the Post to turn the victory into petty politics that smacks of jealousy.

“I think it’s a little desperate, but it’s understandable because they’re in a tough spot in the state — both Trump and Gardner,” the staffer added. “We’ve never seen anything remotely close to this in terms of political expediency.”

So when Democrats pass their policies, it’s because their issue is worthy. But when Republicans score a major policy victory, it’s only because Republicans are desperate? Got it.

Never mind the fund has been a bipartisan goal for years.

It looks like the more Gardner accomplishes, the louder and sillier his critics become.

What next? Greta Thunberg shaking her finger in Gardner’s face, shouting “How dare you work so hard for your constituents without giving Democrats all the credit?!”
