So excited was John Hickenlooper about his endorsement from Michael Bloomberg’s anti-gun group, that he came out swinging during his U.S. Senate debate Wednesday and declared George Floyd had been shot by police.
Straight from the we-can’t-make-this-shit-up files, Bloomberg’s New York lobbying group called Everytown for Gun Safety endorsed about a dozen Democrats Tuesday who are running in high-profile races.
Of course everyone is for gun safety, but Bloomberg’s group is all about making guns illegal, and Bloomberg has a history of getting involved in Colorado political battles over the 2nd Amendment.
It’s no surprise at all Bloomberg would throw his anti-gun support and millions of dollars to Hickenlooper and the other Democrats.
What has our jaw still dragging the floor is why or how Hickenlooper could make such an outrageous claim that Floyd was shot by Minneapolis police when the video of the police officer clearly kneeling on the victim’s throat has been seen the world over?
The medical examiner failed to mention any bullet wounds, and said the cause of death was “cardiopulmonary arrest complicating law enforcement subdual, restraint, and neck compression” — his heart failed.
How could any candidate running for the U.S. Senate not know how Floyd died?
Hickenlooper’s political base has been protesting in the streets of Denver for weeks. It’s been all over the news. It’s all everyone is talking about. Democrat lawmakers are even trying to defund police departments and have social workers respond to crimes because of Floyd’s death.
This isn’t the first time Hickenlooper has shown himself to be completely clueless about the tragic incident.
The Democrat tripped over his politics last week when asked about Black Lives Matter, and he responded that every life matters.
