Aurora Council Member Alison Coombs’s demand to celebrate “Wrath Month” in her social media post that also likened the city’s police department to the KKK was not received with open arms by the rest of the council.

While the shared post divided the council — Councilperson Dave Gruber said the post was “absolutely disgusting” — Mayor Mike Coffman simply encouraged all council members to conduct themselves in a manner that is respectful to the office they hold.

Coombs’ adopted the Candi CdeBaca defense and claimed her post was just a show of solidarity.

And besides, all the kids are chanting “No cops. No KKK. No Racist USA” nowadays, so it’s just the hip thing to scream on social media, Coombs said.

Coombs’s supporters turned out to be organized by the Arapahoe Democratic Party.

Not surprisingly, members of the police union took serious offense to Coombs’ fit of wrath.

A deleted Facebook post from the union linking to Coombs’ post said “This is a definite slap in the face to all officers, dispatchers, victim advocates, and other personnel, who continue to work incredibly hard building strong partnerships and doing what is necessary to bring a sense of healing to Aurora’s many beautifully diverse communities.”
