It doesn’t appear animal activists will intervene on behalf of cattle, sheep, deer and elk to ensure ballots are correctly counted for Proposition 114 that requires the reintroduction of gray wolves.

Front range voters, who won’t have to deal with the predators, are leading the vote in support of the needless measure by 18,568, according to figures Thursday morning from the Secretary of State’s office.

The proposition requires the state Division of Parks and Wildlife to create a plan for reintroduction.

We encourage officials to include in their plan a pathway for the wolves to relocate to Aspen and the Front Range.

Perhaps then the city slickers might reorganize a new proposition to reconsider this ill-conceived effort.
