Is anyone keeping tabs on the hundreds of Colorado National Guard members Gov. Polis dispatched to Washington, D.C. two weeks ago for Joe Biden’s virtual inauguration show?

Polis? The media? Anyone in the state legislature? The Colorado congressional delegation?

At least 200 of our Colorado members left their jobs and families to volunteer their time, as the National Guard does every four years to assist with inauguration security.

But for unexplained reasons the guard’s stay has been mysteriously extended through the end of March by a Democrat administration to guard a Democrat Congress and the Capitol complex.

Stranger still, the very members of Congress who are ostensibly under guard, have no idea why they are under guard.

Military Times reports numerous Republican lawmakers are asking for a briefing from the Army acting secretary to explain the reasoning for militarizing the Capitol.

Is it just online chatter, or something more organized and sinister that requires thousands of troops to turn the Capitol into a green zone, they want to know.

U.S. Sen. Tom Cotton of Arkansas summed it up perfectly:

“The lesson of the Capitol riot is not that we should quarter a standing army at the Capitol just in case, but rather that our security measures should be calibrated to the actual threats.”

Governors from numerous states have taken issue with how their guard has been treated — from background vetting checks to their removal from the Capitol to an underground garage with a couple toilets when hundreds were rotated on breaks.

Those governors have recalled their troops back home to Florida, Texas, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Montana, Alaska, Massachusetts, Arizona and Tennessee.

Polis used Colorado’s guard for a public relations photo op stunt before sending them off to D.C., and hasn’t said a word since.

The same goes for the Democrats in the congressional delegation, who had their pictures taken upon the guard’s arrival.

Who do we have to call to get a wellness check on our guys and find out when they’re coming home?
