University of Colorado Regent Heidi Ganahl will return to her hometown of Monument on Tuesday where she will announce she’s running for governor.

Colorado Politics reports the lone Republican still holding a statewide office filed the paperwork late Friday making it official.

Earlier Friday, Colorado Politics reported Ganahl had planned to make a major announcement in Monument where she grew up, but at the time she declined to reveal any details.

Through a spokeswoman, Ganahl on Friday afternoon said in a statement: “It’s time to fight for our Colorado way of life we love. Coloradans agree. Look at the latest polls — for the first time in more than a decade Colorado voters think we’re on the wrong track.”

We look forward to hearing more about her stance on issue critical to Coloradans on Tuesday.
