Jena Griswold has earned a reputation as Colorado’s most partisan Secretary of State and the worst boss to work for in state government.

So when the Democrat demands taxpayer dollars to track her political opponents on social media to report to law enforcement, it’s very concerning.

Griswold has taken a page from the teachers’ union, which convinced the White House and FBI to silence their critics by tracking and investigating parents critical of school boards.

Griswold insists she needs protection and her own private investigators to track social media criticism and threats, and is asking the state legislature for an annual security budget of $200,000.

The Colorado Sun reports:

The money from the legislature would allow the secretary of state’s office to pay for a security guard or guards to accompany Griswold, a Democrat, and some of her staff at “key public events.” But the majority of the funds would be used to pay a vendor to track threats on social media platforms.

Griswold argues that she requires special security because she’s criticized Republicans on national television, and that her office receives threats because of the 2020 election.

And yet, former Secretary of State Wayne Williams, a Republican, served from 2015 through 2019 and says his office also received threats. He never asked for security or to track his political critics on social media.

Elected officials have received crank letters and calls, harassment and even threats, long before Griswold entered politics just a few short years ago.

Voters get angry, and sometimes get carried away when letting off steam. That doesn’t mean they’re plotting to hurt someone physically and should go to prison.

That’s no reason to panic or start tracking critics on social media to refer them for prosecution if the Democrat-controlled state legislature manages to pass a measure originally introduced this year to send Coloradans to jail for harassing elected officials or their family members.

In her request for social media tracking and security funding, Griswold actually blamed the nasty letters for the high turnover of staffers fleeing her employment.

As has been reported on many occasions, Griswold has earned a reputation for being a nightmare boss.

Maybe she should check first and make sure those nasty letters aren’t coming from her former staffers.
