The Biden administration has found a way to bypass U.S. law and allow bureaucrats to grant amnesty at the border.

It used to be that immigration officials were just supposed to determine whether a person had justifiable claims set out by law to be given asylum at the border.

It was up to a federal judge to actually make the final determination.

But in March, Biden’s Homeland Security Department proposed a rule giving their bureaucrats the power to decide asylum claims made by illegal immigrants.

The problem is, the recommendations by government employees was already so poor, that judges were only granting the requests about 14% of the time.

Rather than addressing the problem of poorly trained bureaucrats or workers actually abusing the system, the Biden administration instead is removing the legal safeguards.

Senate Republicans tried to put a stop to the power grab with a vote on Thursday to repeal the misguided policy before it takes effect, but the effort was defeated by Democrats with the help of Colorado U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet’s vote.

The number of illegal immigrants in the U.S. climbed by more than one million just last year, and now thanks to Bennet’s vote, government bureaucrats will soon have the power to grant amnesty at the border.
